Renato Valdés Olmos is a Dutch-Chilean technologist and angel investor.

As an early-stage investor, he focuses on backing underrepresented/immigrant founders and made investments in companies like Fitnesse, Proemial, and Coho.

He worked with Amsterdam-based venture capital fund Peak as an Entrepreneur in residence, working with portfolio companies and occasionally supporting investment decisions. He worked with Andreessen Horowitz in the Bay Area to prepare the next generation of design talent for career success.

As an executive, Renn attracted, operated, and scaled best-in-class teams for leading technology companies. At Pitch, he served as VP of Product & Design to help teams enable and express their best thinking. At Grammarly, his teams built products to help people communicate confidently and empathetically through AI-enabled communication assistance. At Lyft, he oversaw all consumer products, connecting millions of people in North America through shared rides, e-bikes, scooters, public transportation, and autonomous vehicles. At Honor, his teams redesigned elderly care with compassion and dignity, delivering millions of hours of service to older adults and people with disabilities.

He founded Human (acquired by Mapbox in 2016), an award-winning app that helps people stay active, and Cardcloud, an early IoT project that evolved into a cloud-based digital business card app. He started his career as a product designer and creative director.

Renn speaks up for the marginalized, values a creative, inclusive, and open society, and is a patron of the arts. After a decade in Silicon Valley, he enjoys the Dutch countryside with his family.

Renn holds a Master of Arts in Interaction Design from the Utrecht School of the Arts.
